Mark Henry

Teaching Pastor, Fellowship Bible Church

I was born and raised in Little Rock and proudly graduated from Little Rock Central High School. Though I attended church during my childhood and adolescence, I did not truly know and follow Jesus until my freshman year in college. I didn’t realize it at the time but God used my love and passion for football to link my path with another football player at the University of Arkansas named Ted Shimer.

There was something about Ted and his faith in Jesus that was different and intriguing to me. For several months, Ted approached me after practice in a rather persistent way about attending a Bible study with him and some other football players. But, I always had a “convenient” excuse as to why I couldn’t attend the Bible study until finally one day I relented and decided to go with Ted. It was that night in the athletic dorm at the University of Arkansas where God ambushed me with His love and I immediately fell in love with Him. It was in that moment where Jesus Christ in His amazing grace changed the eternal trajectory of my life forever. I’m so grateful that Ted saw past football into the Kingdom of God.

After going to college, I served with Arkansas Athletes Outreach and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes using my athletic background to share the Gospel with other young athletes. I later went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago. Following seminary, I helped lead and pastor two churches, Saline Community Church in Benton Arkansas and North Metro Church in Marietta Georgia. In 2009, I became one of the Teaching Pastors at Fellowship Bible Church with the responsibility of giving oversight to the Fellowship staff team. In 1991, I married my wife Jenny and we have four children- Hunter, Hayden, Hudson and Hope.
